What we do:
We provide short-term supported housing for people experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. We also provide resettlement support for people moving on from our services to ensure that people make their next move a success.

The Housing team in Northamptonshire have an opportunity to work in the County for a volunteer who will take responsibility for resident involvement including; collecting feedback and views of residents, communicating with residents about services and local news or opportunities of interest, developing and running regular Community Meetings in schemes with residents and organising resident led activities and information events.

We are now looking for volunteer/s that will be able to develop an exciting programme of communication and activities with our residents.

We envisage that the activities will take place during a couple of afternoons each week.

Do you have a talent for working with people? Or experience of developing resident involvement activities? Would you like to have ownership of a project to get residents involved and improve communication with the people we work with? If you have good organisational and communication skills and a passion for working with people, we would like to hear from you!
An important part of this role will be developing a resident involvement programme across the County of Northamptonshire. Mayday deliver services in three locations in the county;
• Wellingborough
• Northampton
• Daventry
This role will be based across the three schemes and volunteers could opt to travel between schemes or perhaps develop activities specifically in their local schemes if more practical.
. We are looking for people who:

• Have excellent planning and organising skills
• Have good levels of enthusiasm to motivate residents to participate
• Have good communication skills and IT skills including social media experience (desirable)
• Have some marketing and publicity experience (desirable)
• Experience of resident involvement or organising events/activities/meetings
• Available a couple of times a week
• Interested in housing and resident involvement

Your Availability:

• We would like you to be able to volunteer with us for 3 months or more.
• We would like you to be available for at least one two hour session per week.

Key Tasks for this role:

• Organising regular resident meetings in schemes including taking minutes and planning agendas and speakers
• Developing programme of activities with residents eg cooking on a budget sessions, summer barbeques, outdoor events, volunteering experiences etc
• Collecting, collating and analysing resident views, ideas and feedback about Mayday services (including in/out surveys)
• Promoting services, activities and opportunities with Mayday and beyond including posters, social media, information events and maintaining scheme information and notice boards
• Researching resident areas of interest and developing partnership with others to facilitate opportunities, shared events, speakers and joint working or specialist services or therapies for our residents

Volunteers working with us can access:

• Induction training to prepare you to volunteer and access to additional training after 3 months
• Regular support from your volunteer supervisor
• Travel expenses reimbursed as agreed with the Area Manager.
