Exciting Opportunity

Mayday Housing Volunteer – Oxfordshire & Northamptonshire

What we do:

We provide short-term supported housing for people experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless. We also provide resettlement support for people moving on from our services to ensure that people make their next move a success.

Mayday Trust – background info on why the volunteer opportunity has arisen

The Housing team in Northamptonshire have an opportunity to work in the County for a volunteer who will take responsibility for resident move on and resettlement support for residents who have demonstrated they are ready to move on to independent living, as well as working with those residents with barriers to moving on such as former tenant or other debt, preparing residents for move on including setting up their new home and utilities in conjunction with Coaches in early weeks of move on and assisting with admin/paperwork relating to move on’s including providing references, completing nomination forms, bidding support and housing register applications.

We are now looking for volunteer/s that will be able to focus on move on applications in the County of Northamptonshire. This will involve working with residents to prepare them for independent living once their time living at Mayday accommodation comes to an end.

We envisage that the activities will take place during a couple of afternoons each week.

Do you have a talent for working with people? Or experience of working in housing or supporting vulnerable people?

An important part of this role will be assisting residents with all aspects of move on across the County of Northamptonshire. Mayday deliver services in three locations in the county;
• Wellingborough
• Northampton
• Daventry
This role will be based across the three schemes and volunteers could opt to travel between schemes or perhaps focus specifically in their local schemes if more practical.
Volunteers working with us can access:

• Induction training to prepare you to volunteer and access to additional training after 3 months
• Regular support from your volunteer supervisor
• Travel expenses reimbursed as agreed with the Area Manager.

Are you passionate about working with people through their challenging life transitions in a community setting?
